is it safe to keep live fish in a plastic bag for longer then an hour?

i want to buy some goldfish for my aquarium but i won't be able to bring them home right away and i wasn't sure if it was safe to keep live fish in a plastic bag for longer then an hour?

It is safe to keep a goldfish for up too 4 hrs in a plastic bag, it depends how well the animal was bagged up in the shop to start with. If oxygen was put in the bag then maybe longer. The problem is a lack of oxygen, if the weather is warm then the amount of time is considerably reduced, don't forget to mix the water in the tank in the bag slowly when you get it home.
