Fountain style water dish?

I have a 6 month old border collie/black lab cross and two cats. I keep two indoor water dishes full at all times but I am thinking about getting one of the water fountains i see in pet stores. I wonder about the possibility of bacteria growth in them as they don't seem as easy to clean as a bowl. They are an expensive investment ($50-$100) I don't like the cheapo pop bottle type water bowls as they are always full of debris (fur, floor lint). Is this going to be a problem with the electronic fountain type ones as well? Is there anything else I should consider?

They get clogged with hair very easily. They're hard to clean because you can't fully submerge them in water. They also break down very quickly. Try getting a raised dish. It keeps the dirt and hair from the floor out of the bowl and is better for your pet's digestion and back.
