What dog best suits my family?

We have a medium size backyard.
We have a small dog, pet rat, and 4 fishes.
No kids younger then 10.
Big enough space.
I tried the dog breed selectors, but I keep on getting a Belgium breed. I like the breed, except there is none in the area. Any suggestions on which dog we can have?
We owned many dogs long time ago.

Well if your looking for a big dog, then i definitely go for a Labrador. I got mine for a christmas present and now shes 3. She is awesome around kids, and they are protected,so if you leave your child at home by his/her self. you wont have to worry.
