Can I Use A Dog Carrier For A Dog Crate?

I'm getting a dog in a few days and i'm just wondering if i could use a carrier instead or a crate because i'm getting a yorkie and i don't want to get a expensive crate for him so i found a carrier on petsmart.com and its perfect. But i really want to know if its okay to use a carrier instead of a crate.

This is the carrier/crate

It depends on the dog and the training. When appropriately crate trained, the crate is supposed to feel like a safe place for the dog. Some dogs like open metal crates better, some like these closed plastic crates. As long as you train correctly, I don't see why you wouldn't be able to use this.

Make sure you give the dog a treat everytime you put him in the crate and never ever use the crate for punishment. If it turns out he really hates the carrier, you can always get a small metal crate on craigslist for pretty cheap.
