My neighbor used my nail clippers. Should I clean them or throw them away?

@ 1st, she asked for a pair of scissors, & then she said, "Never mind. Hand me those nail clippers."

I thought she was going to clip hanging string from her shirt or pants. No. She used my clippers to clip the dry skin off of her feet.

I know I have OCD. I just need to be reassured that I'll be OK. Also, I've learned all my life that you're not supposed to share personal grooming items.

Even if she doesn't have any condition or disease, you should clean it completely in case you get an infection or a virus.

Instructions

1.) Gather your supplies. Don't forget to find your clean tissues, alcohol and or alcohol-based cleaning wipes.

2.) Place nail clippers in a bowl of hot water. Add a bit of liquid soap to the water. Allow the clippers to sit in the hot water for 10 to 20 minutes. Remove the clippers. Rinse, making sure you remove all the remnants of the soap. Towel dry.

3.) Place some rubbing alcohol onto a tissue or use an alcohol based disinfectant wipe. Wipe the tissue or wipe along the cutting edges of the nail clipper. If the clipper also has a built in nail file (especially if used regular) wipe this area with alcohol, too.

4.) Wipe the cutting edges of the nail clippers, again. Use a clean tissue.

5.) Place dry nail clippers into a plastic bag. Secure the plastic bag by zipping it or tying it. If you keep all of your nail clippers in secure bags, germs will not attach to them so quickly. This will help keep them cleaner and sanitized longer. Once used or at least once used a couple of times repeat sanitizing process, again.

Tips and Warnings

1.) If you carry an extra pair of nail clippers in your purse, make sure you enclose them in a plastic bag (tied or Ziploc) to help keep germs off of them.

2.) Make sure you completely dry clippers when you are finish sanitizing to keep them from rusting.

3.) To help keep the spread of viruses at bay in your home, each family member should have his/her own nail clippers. They should never actually be shared.

4.) If nail clippers have become rusted, dull or have slits around the cutting edge, it is time to throw away and buy a new pair.
